Physicality for Performing/ Comedy Workshop

Energise your performing style with exciting new physical techniques in our physicality for performing/comedy class. Discover new ways in which to move, to find pleasure on stage and to have fun purely through the power of the body!

Are you a stand up? Actor? Improvisor? Cabaret performer? - no matter your performance style this workshop is for you. This class will allow you to find dynamic ways to bring out humour, beauty and drama all through movement.

Act out stories with multiple characters, play games over the top of dialogue, find fun in your own physicality.

By the end of this class you will be equipped with tools in which you can animate and grow your performance in new, and unexpected ways.

In this class we will:

  • Explore mime principals

  • Examine physical comedy techniques

  • Dive into elemental and tension work

  • Character type and character creation

  • Consider physicality as storytelling

  • Apply the above to your own practise

  • We'll do some warm up exercises which will bring you into the room and into your body. We'll then run exercises as a group, individually and in pairs whilst making links to why we are doing these as how they can help you learn more about yourself, your performance style and how to use these skills in your practice/ life.

  • All of the above! Our workshops usually involve a mixture of solo and group work.

  • Yes, depending on the length of the workshop, energy of the participants etc. we'll have breaks. There will usually be at least one 5-10min break every 60-120 minutes.
