Welcome to the world of devising alternative comedy! This workshop is packed with new writing and devising techniques, exercises, and warm-ups—everything we can squeeze into one day, with particular focus on physical comedy, absurdity, and character work.

You'll leave with a toolbox full of exercises you can use solo, with a comedy partner, or in a troupe. Whether you're a stand-up wanting to make your act weirder, a clown dipping your toes into devising, or a character comedian craving fresh writing ideas, we've got you covered.

Our devising exercises blend writing with getting up to improvise and play. You'll explore solo writing, work in pairs, and engage in group sharing and performance. The focus is on generating loads of ideas and learning not to be too critical in the early creative stages—embracing the fun and joy in what you create.

The day will include regular breaks and a longer break for lunch to keep you energised and creative.
