This daylong class will allow you to develop your physicality to bring more creative approaches to your performance through movement, play and storytelling. Are you a solo performer such as a stand up or clown? Or maybe in an acting/ improv/ circus troupe? Every type of performer is welcome as there's so much to learn.
This is an invigorating exploration of the pleasure of movement, where we'll be working individually, in pairs and in groups.
In this class we will:
Explore physicality through tensions, isolation, and elements
Develop presence through impulse and complicite
Discover how to use the body and voice in conjunction
Learn visual storytelling approaches through the performance style visual vernacular
Examine physical comedy techniques, such as how to stage slap, walk into a door, etc.
Character types and character creation
Discuss how to bring all of these into your own practice!
Build from the ground up with our bodies to tell stories, play games, find fun, and inject wonder into your performance!
We'll do some warm up exercises which will bring you into the room and into your body. We'll then run exercises as a group, individually and in pairs whilst making links to why we are doing these as how they can help you learn more about yourself, your performance style and how to use these skills in your practice/ life.
All of the above! Our workshops usually involve a mixture of solo and group work.
Yes, depending on the length of the workshop, energy of the participants etc. we'll have breaks. There will usually be at least one 5-10min break every 60-120 minutes.
