Mime & Play: A Physicality Course for Performers - 4 Weeks (Mon Eves)

£132 - £156

When: Mon, 1st Sept • 7pm - Mon, 29th Sept • 10pm

Other Dates:

A practical, playful deep-dive into mime, physical storytelling, and embodied performance. Whether you're an improviser refining your object work, a stand-up sharpening your act-outs or a performer exploring new ways to build character through movement, this course equips you with tools to move with clarity, find joy in play and fully engage with your body on stage.

We've run evening workshops on this before but this course goes deeper, offering a richer toolkit and space to build week by week through solo and ensemble play! This is for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals looking to build their repertoire of skills.

Who is this for?

  • Improvisers – Create believable environments, handle invisible objects with clarity and find the game physically. (e.g., convincingly making a cuppa, playing invisible tennis).

  • Stand-ups – Strengthen act-outs, sharpen physical punchlines and add comic rhythm through the body. (e.g., miming drinking at a bar).

  • Clowns/Characters – Develop non-verbal storytelling, physical presence and characterisation.

  • Actors, dancers, and physical creatives – Explore transformation, ensemble movement and learn how to command scene authenticity.

What to expect?

  • Creating the Invisible – Establishing weight, texture, object reality and world building.

  • Physical Clarity – Isolation, detail and heightened spacial awareness to enhance storytelling.

  • Embodying Actions & Environments – Bringing authenticity and forward thinking to scenes.

  • Comedy & Character – Physicality as a tool for comic rhythm.

  • Play & Complicité - Ensemble rhythm, the pleasure of performing and the joy of the game.

What You'll Learn

  1. The Body as Storyteller - Foundations in physical awareness, object work and environmental clarity

  2. Character Through Physicality - Building characters through movement and tension

  3. Comic Rhythm & Ensemble Play - Timing, tension and complicité

  4. Silent Scenes & Physical Storytelling - Integration and performance

Why This Course?

Accessible, energising, and deeply rewarding, this course offers performers a chance to go beyond voice and words. It's a chance to deepen your physical vocabulary and rediscover the joy of telling stories without words.
